Gather your supplies

You should have your kit, your instructions, a large mason jar, your DMSA, and a pen.

Your DMSA was called into a compounding pharmacy and should be shipped separately to your house. If you have not heard from the compounding pharmacy within 3-4 days of your visit, please call our office.

What to avoid

Do not collect while menstruating

Avoid certain foods before collecting. To see a complete list based on test, click here.

No Food for 12 hours beforehand. Fasting Overnight is ideal. Feel free to drink water, but do not over-hydrate or your sample will be too dilute.

Collect CUP 1

Collect first morning urine in the cup provided then use the pipette to transfer urine into the specimen tube. Label with your name and date of birth and date/time of collection.

Collect cup 2

After collecting cup one with your first morning urine, you will take your DMSA pills at one time (about 1,500 mg) then you collect your urine over for the next 6 hours in a big mason jar. Once the 6 hours are complete you will shake the mason jar and fill the specimen tube. You may discard the rest of the urine. You will label it with your name and date of birth and date/time of collection and write WITH DMSA on the specimen tube.
